Event Description

Green Bay once again has been awarded the honor of hosting a fleet of Tall Ships® as part of the Tall Ships Challenge®. One of only 11 ports in North America and one of 7 in the USA, the Port of Green Bay will be home to nine majestic vessels July 26-28, offering a wide variety of entertainment and experiences.

Touring ships allow event-goers to learn about each ship’s rich history and meet the crew. Sailing ships offer even more of an experience as they hoist their anchor and sail down the river and into the mouth of the bay. Daily programming includes a full day of entertainment that is sure to make lasting memories. In addition to sail excursions and on-board tours, this year a variety of on-board experiences will be available for purchase.

Festival tickets

All general admission tickets are good for one day and include festival grounds, entertainment and dockside ship tours

General admission: $15

Children ages 5-12 (children 4 and under free): $10

Seniors (62+), active military and veterans: $13

Family Day is Sunday, July 28. Kids ages 5-12 are only $5

Sturgeon Bay to Green Bay Sail – $199

All excursion tickets include one general admission festival ticket and everyone on the excursion needs to purchase a ticket regardless of age. Ship excursions are not recommended for children under the age of 5 and should be able to wear the provided life jacket.

Thursday, July 25

• Departs Sturgeon Bay at 8am and sails to Green Bay where Tall Ship Windy will sail down the Fox River and dock at Leicht Memorial Park. Each ticket includes a boxed lunch and a festival ticket for a day. Sail duration varies depending on weather, but plan on approximately 8 hours. Bus transportation from Green Bay back to Sturgeon Bay also available at the BUY TICKET link below

Green Bay to Sturgeon Bay Sail – $285

Picton Castle

GO ALOFT

Literally “learn the ropes” as you learn rig-climbing techniques from pros and then get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go aloft! Extremely exclusive opportunity limited to 10 people age 18 and older.

DECKHAND FOR A DAY

Go on board  for a fully immersive experience on the Picton Castle starting with breakfast with the crew until they call it quits for the day.  Be prepared to work hard and learn the ropes (literally)!  Extremely exclusive opportunity limited to 2 people age 18 and older.  Participants must be in good health with no physical mobility restrictions.  Be prepared to climb up and down steep ladders and step over high sills. 

NIGHT WATCH WITH THE CREW

Join the crew for an overnight stay on board the Picton Castle.  This is the true experience where you will keep night watch and stay with the crew through breakfast the next morning! Extremely exclusive opportunity limited to 2 people age 18 and older.  Participants must be in good health with no physical mobility restrictions.  Be prepared to climb up and down steep ladders and step over high sills.  This is a fully immersive experience in crew (non-luxury) accommodations that include bunks in open compartments with many other people.

CAPTAIN’S DINNER

Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go aboard the Picton Castle and have dinner with the captain.  Extremely exclusive opportunity limited to 5 people age 21 and older.  Dinner will be served based on the crew meal for the day. It also includes a bottle of the event’s commemorative Captain's Walk wine for the event to take home.

STEM WORKSHOP
Build an ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle)

Explore our Great Lakes and the world of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) with Inland Seas‘ ROV Engineer and Explore Program.  Ticket price includes general festival admission.

Participants will work in small groups at the “Engineering Station” where they design, build and test an original ROV.  They must design their ROV for a mission (task):  maneuvering around an obstacle and retrieving floating objects.  In these hands-on engineering challenges, participants develop an understanding of buoyancy and underwater propulsion, as well as teamwork, problem solving skills and an understanding of the types of problems ROV operators overcome in their work. Workshop is 1:45 hour long

Fireworks Viewing On Board a Tall Ship

Enjoy spectacular views of the Nicolet Bank Tall Ships Fireworks on board a tall ship. Ship boarding begins at 9 p.m. with fireworks at approximately 9:30 p.m. and the experience concluding at 10:30 p,m. Admission includes festival admission along with a unique experience on board a Tall Ship for fireworks viewing and beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages
