Description
On November 10th, Tuesday at 7pm The Packerland Theatre Organ Society will present “An Evening With Laurel and Hardy”, at the fully restored movie palace, the Meyer Theater in downtown Green Bay, WI, with its historical Wurlitzer Theater Pipe Organ.. During the 1920’s Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy were paired up by Hal Roach to make short silent comedy films, covering all sorts of subjects and situations. Four examples of these films will be shown, uncut. Frank Rippl and Tom McNeely will be doing live musical accompaniment on the Wurlitzer to these rarely seen silent films.
Frank Rippl has been Organist/Choirmaster at all Saints’ Episcopal Church in Appleton since 1971. He is a co-founder of the Appleton Boychoir, and now serves as the Boychoir’s Director Emeritus and organist for it’s annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, and is founder and coordinator of the summer Lunchtime Organ Recital Series. Mr. Rippl taught elementary classroom music for the Appleton Area School District for thirty-three years and retired in 2002. He is active in the Northeastern Wisconsin Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, the Organ Historical Society, the Packerland Theatre Organ Society, and has appeared on Minnesota Public Radio’s “Pipedreams”
